BTW in real life my dad got a ticket for “exhibition of speed” from drag racing against a Beretta in his Datsun 240z.

As a kid, I remember my Aunt bragging to the family how she was going out to buy a new sports car. She was...mid twenties? Working a well paying factory gig. Anyway, I was like 8. I was picturing, well, a NASCAR stock car. I really didn’t know what a “sports car” was, beyond NASCAR and F1.
Imagine my disappointment when the Beretta Z26 rolled in.
Oh, shit, no. I think it might have been a Cavalier Z24. Pretty sure it looked exactly like this.
Honestly I can’t remember which it was specifically.
Still.
I was very disappointed.
I still am.

T hat v6 had a nice growl, otherwise it was pretty junky. My grandfather on my mother’s side’s last car was a grey Corsica. It was a POS but he loved it...

Funny I think they cost about the same as a used Chevy of the same name these days.

I got an “unnecessary display of power” ticket in a 1987 Buick Century with a Tech4........
My wife fell in love with one of these years ago:
I present the Beretta GTZ. Quad 4 HO under the hood mated to a 5-speed manual. That car was a riot to drive...........for about a week..........at which it lost oil pressure and grenaded the engine.

In hindsight, we both wish we’d have spent the money and put a new engine in it instead of junking it, the rest of the car was spotless.
